Liqen (*1980) is an internationally acclaimed street-art artist originally from Spain, now based in Mexico. His current work is predominantly influenced by the animal kingdom, nature and creatures from the depths of the Earth. His pseudonym Liqen, a mixture of algae and fungus, reflects his sociobiological interest in species that may seem strange at first glance, but which contain unique characteristics that allow them to be reborn after centuries of dormancy. Liqen's murals can be found all around Mexico and illustrate his critical view of human destiny, industrialization and environmental pollution.
